Biography

Stéphane Poitras was awarded a BSc in physiotherapy from the University of Ottawa in 1995. He earned an MSc in clinical sciences from the University of Sherbrooke in 1998 and a PhD in public health (health care organization option) from the University of Montréal in 2005. He was a postdoctoral fellow in epidemiology and biostatistics at McGill University from 2005 to 2007, and he has been a professor at the University of Ottawa since May 2007.

Professor Poitras is accepting students for thesis supervision in specifics programs (Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences, Master of Science in Human Kinetics, Doctorate in Rehabilitation Sciences and Doctorate in Human Kinetics).

Research

Stéphane Poitras' research interests focus on the management of musculoskeletal health problems, particularly the study of health services related to these conditions. Over the past decade, his work has centred on rehabilitation associated with hip and knee arthroplasty, including both assessment and management.
