Moiz Karimjee is designated Crown Counsel with the Complex Prosecutions Bureau, specializing in complex abuse of process litigation. Before joining the Bureau, he served for over twenty years with the Ottawa Crown Attorney’s Office, including as Acting Deputy Crown Attorney.
His litigation experience includes hate crimes, dangerous offender proceedings, complex sexual assaults, fraud prosecutions, and Freedom Convoy 2022 cases. He formerly led the Ottawa Crown Attorney’s Hate Crime Prosecution Group and was a founding member of the Ontario Hate Crime Working Group. He also prosecuted the first conviction in Ontario involving sexual assault through secretly recording and participating in the sexual activity.
Moiz Karimjee is the author of three editions of Issues in Criminal Trials and Summary Appeal Law published by LexisNexis. He graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School and the University of Guelph, and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1999.
