Dr. Lei Du joined The Ottawa Hospital’s General Campus as a locum in May 2022 before coming on staff in January 2023. He completed his anesthesiology residency training at the University of Manitoba in 2017, followed by fellowship training in Obstetric Anesthesiology in 2018. Upon the completion of his fellowship, he joined Manitoba’s Shared Health in Winnipeg as a consultant anesthesiologist. In 2020, he returned to Ontario and worked as a locum at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital and Scarborough Health Network before joining Mackenzie Health in Vaughan as a consultant anesthesiologist.

Dr. Du is interested in communications in perioperative care and in physician performance and wellness. In 2021, he also completed a graduate certificate in Executive Coaching at Royal Roads University to advance his interest in this area. Outside the hospital, Dr. Du enjoys spending his time with his family rediscovering Ottawa and cultivating an eclectic taste in music and media.

Mohamed Eissa joined The Ottawa Hospital’s Civic Campus on October 1, 2022, upon the completion of his fellowship in Obstetrical Anesthesia at the University of Ottawa. He completed his anesthesiology training at the Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt, and became a diplomate of the European Society of Anesthesia and Intensive care (EDAIC) in 2017. He then did his fellowship in Perioperative Hemodynamic Echocardiography and Anesthesia at the University of Ottawa (2019-2020) and a Clinical and Research fellowship in Anesthesia, Sleep, and Pain Medicine at the University of Toronto and Toronto Western Hospital (2020-2021). Most recently, he received his Testamur of Advanced Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography from the National Board of Echocardiography in 2020.

His main research interest is focused on enhancing the use of point-of-care ultrasound (PoCUS) and transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) in obstetrical anesthesia which would provide a unique skillset in caring for high-risk cardiac obstetrical patients.

He is one of the few fellowship-trained obstetrical anesthesiologists with formal certification and training in echocardiography in Canada. He is also interested in perioperative sleep medicine and research as well.

Interests: football (soccer), snorkeling, travelling, and music. Liverpool fan to the bone, Steven Gerrard and Dennis Bergkamp are his favourite players of all time. You will always find him talking about Mo Salah (the Egyptian King) and how they both have the same name.

Dr. Martine Lindsay joined The Ottawa Hospital’s General Campus on March 1, 2023. She has been a full-time medical staff and Clinical Lecturer with the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton since 2019.

Dr. Lindsay completed fellowship training in Liver Transplant Anesthesiology at the University of Miami and residency training at the University of Alberta.In 2020, she was appointed Director of Liver and Multivisceral Transplant Anesthesiology and Fellowship Director for the Liver Transplant Anesthesia fellowship training program.

Dr. Lindsay also shares an interest in medical education, having served as the Undergraduate Medical Education Site Coordinator as well as a member of the Resident Competence Committee at the University of Alberta. Her research interests have included early extubation following liver transplantation and preoperative optimization strategies for liver, multivisceral and multiorgan transplant candidates, and she looks forward to further pursuing her academic interests in the field of anesthesia for hepatobiliary surgery at The Ottawa Hospital.

Dr. Arnaud Mbadjeu

Dr. Arnaud Mbadjeu

Dr. Mbadjeu completed a Doctorate of Medicine and a residency in Anesthesiology, and Critical Care at the University of Brescia-Italy. Following his graduation, he completed three clinical fellowships in Anesthesia at the University of Toronto: abdominal organ transplantation, neuro and regional, cardiac and critical care. 

His clinical area of focus is the implementation of echography (POCUS, TTE, TEE) in the management of high-risk patients.

Currently, Dr Mbadjeu is pursuing a Master's of Science in System Leadership and Innovation at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto.

Dr Mbadjeu has a broad research interest that is focused on improving perioperative management of patients using new technologies such as Big Data and Artificial Intelligence. He is also part of a multidisciplinary group assessing the association of preoperative risk factors and anesthesia interventions with patient outcomes.

Dr. Wesley Rajaleelan joined The Ottawa Hospital’s General Campus in August 2022, upon the completion of his fellowship in obstetrical anesthesia at the University of Ottawa. He completed his anesthesiology training at the Christian Medical College in Vellore, India in 2014, and subsequently

completed fellowships at the University of Toronto in Perioperative/Regional Anaesthesia, Advanced Neuroanesthesia, and Simulation and Medical Education 2018-2021.

He also has a special interest and experience in Global Health, having worked for Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) on multiple missions. Most recently, he began his MPH program in Global Health Policy at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), (affiliated with the University of London) last summer and now serves as the University of Ottawa’s representative for the Association of Canadian University Departments of Anesthesia’s (ACUDA) Global Health Subcommittee, and The Ottawa Hospital's Global Surgery, OBGYN, and Anesthesiology Committee (GSOGAC).

Dr. Takpal (Tinu) Sandhu

Dr. Takpal (Tinu) Sandhu joined CHEO in August 2022. She completed her anesthesiology residency training at the University of Ottawa in 2015, followed by fellowship training in pediatric anesthesia at CHEO in 2017. Thereafter, Tinu continued on to locum at Southlake Regional Health Centre (Newmarket) and Humber River Hospital in Toronto prior to joining the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) in October 2018 as a full-time staff member.

During her fellowship training, Tinu completed the Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Leadership Program at the University of Ottawa’s Telfer School of Management, which has supported her continued interest in QI-related initiatives.

At LHSC, she served as a member of the perioperative Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Committee and was the QI Team Lead on multiple projects. Tinu represented LHSC at the Canadian Pediatric Anesthesia Society (CPAS) QI group and hopes to continue her involvement with the CPAS while at CHEO.

Tinu has two young boys and enjoys spending her free time with them, participating in outdoor activities whenever possible.
