Description

A seminar presented by the University of Ottawa’s International Francophonie Research Chair on Digital Health Technologies and the Collège des chaires de recherche sur le monde francophone.

The two-day seminar will bring together researchers, students and professionals to look at two closely-related questions:

  • What is patient engagement in health-care research and education?
  • What role does simulation play in training health-care professionals and producing knowledge?
Day 1 — June 24

Patient engagement in research and training
Discussion about different forms of engagement (patient partners, simulated patients, mentors, teachers), “patient knowledge” and issues of legitimacy, including with regard to digital health care projects and AI.


Day 2 — June 25

Simulation as a training approach and research method
Analysis of participatory design of simulation approaches, their use in teaching and potential for the study of professional practice and interactions within teams of professionals.
