The Department of Economics offers several challenging academic programs and is home to a vibrant group of professors whose research touches on a wide range of issues.

Programs

Economics

Economics provides you with a way to examine how individuals and society make choices in a world where resources are limited. It focuses on the production, distribution and consumption of goods and services.

Economics and Public Policy

This program draws on economic analysis and various disciplines to give you a better understanding of the challenges involved in developing good public policy and why governments sometimes fail to make the right choices.

Environmental Economics and Public Policy

This program provides students with a multidisciplinary understanding of the environment, the economy and the interaction between the two.

International Economics and Development

The International Economics and Development program is built on a variety of economics courses that provide insight into the way in which globalization affects individuals, industry, the public sector and entire nations. The understanding it provides of economic concepts is framed by an awareness of the factors that shape economic development in both emerging and developing countries.

Apply to ECO 4195 The Art and Science of Monetary Policy-Making in Canada!

Interested students are required to submit their candidacy as soon as possible but no later than September 1, 2022. Candidates will be selected according to their experiences and knowledge that could be deemed useful to the Governor’s Challenge competition. If you are selected for the course, you will receive an email by September 3, 2022.
