Access articles, ebooks, ejournals, research databases, and other online resources by signing in with your uOttawa institutional credentials.
Signing in unlocks the Library’s full collection of online resources, ensuring you have access to everything provided by the University of Ottawa without encountering paywalls. Note: You will only need to sign in once per browser session.
1A- Start by searching Omni, the Library catalogue, for the content you want to access, then click the “View Online” link (sometimes labeled “Read PDF” or with the name of the publisher). link (sometimes labeled “Read PDF” or with the name of the publisher).
1B- You can also search directly on a publisher’s website and look for the institutional login option.
2- Select Bibliothèque uOttawa Library.
3- When prompted, enter your uoAccess ID or Affiliated ID credentials. You will then be redirected to the content.
When sharing content available through the Library with other uOttawa users, always use a generated library access link instead of the publisher’s URL. These links identify the Library as the source of access. This ensures that the person receiving the link – whether a student consulting a course reading list or a colleague collaborating on research – can connect through the Library’s subscriptions instead of encountering the publisher’s paywall.
The Library uses a service called OpenAthens to generate these links.
To create a library access link:
*Make sure the “Find your organization” box says Bibliothèque uOttawa Library.
Who can sign in
Members of the public, including uOttawa alumni, can access the Library’s online resources on-site with a guest account or use open access resources instead.

If you encounter a problem accessing a resource, contact Library Technical Support. Please include the name of the resource you were trying to access and the URL you used.
