The Chair’s research program included identifying the social risks of AI, developing regulations, testing laws, and advising policymakers, while aiming to create AI legal standards that protected society and served the public interest.

Led by Dr. Céline Castets-Renard, the Chair’s program invested in attracting and retaining some of the world’s most accomplished and promising minds. Dr. Castets-Renard’s efforts helped shape policies that balanced innovation with societal well-being and reinforced the University of Ottawa’s research leadership in technology law, ethics and policy.
