Dr. Banu Şit Köşgeroğlu is a Visiting Scholar at the Centre for Law, Technology and Society at the University of Ottawa.

Dr. Banu Şit Köşgeroğlu is Professor in the Department of Private International Law, Faculty of Law, at the Hacettepe University in Ankara, Türkiye. She has been awarded a grant by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye for her project on the Choice of Seat of Arbitration in International Arbitration and Artificial Intelligence that she will carry out since September 2025 at the University of Ottawa Centre for Law, Technology and Society.

Dr. Banu Şit Köşgeroğlu’s research focuses on international dispute resolution, particularly international arbitration. With the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in the field of international arbitration, her research interests have expanded to explore this intersection. Her current project examines the use of AI in relation to the choice of seat of arbitration.

She has served as a Professor of Private International Law for many years, first at Gazi University and later at Hacettepe University. She teaches courses on private international law and international commercial arbitration. In addition to her academic work, she is a practicing lawyer in the field of international commercial arbitration and has represented clients before leading international arbitration institutions. She has published extensively on various aspects of private international law and international arbitration.

Dr. Banu Şit Köşgeroğlu earned her law degree from Ankara University Faculty of Law in 1995 and completed her PhD at the same institution in 2004, with a dissertation on institutional arbitration. She subsequently received an award from the Turkish Academy of Sciences for her post-doctoral research, which she conducted at the Law and Technology Institute at Dalhousie University in 2006. She is also a Fulbright grantee and conducted research at the Center for Global Energy, International Arbitration, and Environmental Law at the University of Texas at Austin for six months in 2011.
