Biography
Heather McLeod-Kilmurray holds an SJD from the University of Toronto and an LL.M. from the University of Cambridge. She was law clerk to Chief Justice Isaac of the Federal Court of Appeal. She practiced as Counsel at Environment Canada, and as an Assistant Solicitor at the Sheffield City Council in England. She is also currently a part-time member of the Ontario Environmental Review Tribunal.
Her research focuses on environmental law from a variety of perspectives. She has written about procedural barriers to environmental litigation such as class actions, injunctions and public interest standing. She has also addressed the role of courts and judges and of environmental ethics on environmental cases. She has written on the issue of GM drift, from the perspective of class action litigation, from an ecofeminist perspective, and on issues of environmental justice and the oil sands. She is currently writing on Toxic Torts with Professor Collins. She teaches Environmental Law, Torts, Legal Research and Writing, Administrative Law and Fondements de la common law.
