The Institute of the Environment serves as a collaborative hub for cutting-edge, policy-relevant sustainability research. Through major national networks and initiatives - including the Smart Prosperity Institute, the Forest Hub, the Missing Middle housing and climate project, and our economics and policy research networks - our researchers and graduate students work at the intersection of public policy, clean innovation, and ecological protection.
Graduate Programs
Today’s environmental challenges demand cross-disciplinary solutions. The Institute of the Environment offers two innovative graduate pathways: our MSc in Environmental Sustainability (featuring both a 1-year Major Research Paper option and a 2-year thesis-based stream) and our PhD in Environmental Sustainability. Master’s students can further bridge theory and practice by integrating hands-on professional experience through co-op placements.
