International Research and Experiential Learning

The International Research and Experiential Learning (IREX) team draws on the expertise of the University of Ottawa and its international partners to address major global challenges through research. RIEX leads the development and strengthening of the University of Ottawa’s relationships with key international research stakeholders. Its mandate promotes global engagement through funding programs that support doctoral mobility, undergraduate research experiences, and the hosting of visiting research students. IREX also leverages external funding to increase the reach, influence, and impact of the University’s researchers and research chairs, centres, and institutes.

Procedure for Visiting Research Students

Visiting research students are enrolled in a degree program at a university in Canada or abroad and are coming to the University of Ottawa to conduct research under the supervision of a full-time faculty member. Visiting research students are not entitled to the conferring of a degree from the University of Ottawa, nor do they pay tuition fees.
