Personal protective equipment recycling (PPE)

The Office of Campus Sustainability is working with Facilities to deploy PPE recycling boxes around campus before the return to campus in the Fall of 2021.

In response to the environmental impact concerns of single-use procedural face masks, the Faculty of Medicine launched a PPE recycling program at the Roger Guindon campus on March 15, 2021.

What PPE can you recycle?

  • Procedural masks
  • Gloves (nitrile & latex)
  • Ear plugs
  • Safety glasses
  • Hairnets

*Do not send in medical waste. This includes material contaminated with blood or bodily fluids that originate from health care facilities, hospitals, physicians' offices, dental offices, blood banks, veterinary clinics, research laboratories, etc.

Where can I find these boxes?
