The Human Rights Office supports a learning and work environment that fosters understanding and respect for the University community. We manage concerns and complaints related to harassment, discrimination, racism, hate, sexual violence, breach of responsible conduct, accessibility and equity, diversity and inclusion.

We serve all members of the uOttawa community, including students, staff and professors. Our services are free, bilingual and confidential (except in exceptional circumstances when, for example, someone is at risk of harm, or we have a legal obligation to take action).

Our team provides consultation services, intervenes in various situations, receives and handles both formal and informal complaints, and either organizes or takes part in information, training, and awareness-raising activities.

Indigenous Affirmation

We pay respect to the Algonquin people, who are the traditional guardians of this land. We acknowledge their longstanding relationship with this territory, which remains unceded.

We pay respect to all Indigenous people in this region, from all nations across Canada, who call Ottawa home.

We acknowledge the traditional knowledge keepers, both young and old. And we honour their courageous leaders: past, present, and future.
