Orientation Day
The Student Mobility team offers an Orientation Day (registration fee required) to welcome you as a new exchange student and help you get comfortable on campus. It’s a great way to get to know your surroundings, meet other students and take part in activities that will help you start your term with confidence.
We’ll email you details closer to the day.
Get involved and make new friends
There are so many ways to make the most of student life at uOttawa! Here are just some of the options:
- Join a student club.
- Connect with International House.
- Learn while helping your community through becoming a volunteer.
- Check our campus activities calendar for a list of non-academic activities.
- Stay active and healthy by signing up for a sport.
Receiving your transcript at the end of your exchange
At the end of your exchange, the Student Mobility team will email you your official uOttawa transcript at no cost. If you complete your exchange during the fall term, you’ll receive your transcript by mid-February. If you complete your exchange during the winter term or over the full academic year, you’ll receive it by the end of May.
Make sure you don’t owe any fees to the University (such as health insurance fees), as outstanding charges will prevent your transcript from being issued.
Paid exchange program
You have two options to complete a student exchange at the University of Ottawa: with or without a student mobility agreement.
To check if there’s an agreement between your university and uOttawa, see our list of partner universities. If your university isn’t on the list, you can still apply through the paid exchange program.
Main differences:
- The paid exchange program is only for undergraduate students.
- You must pay the applicable uOttawa tuition fees.
- You are billed for your official transcript at the end of your paid exchange.

How to apply
- Email [email protected] in late February. We’ll send you a link and detailed instructions to complete your application.
- Pay the $100 processing fee when you apply.
Your institution doesn’t have to nominate you.
If there’s a mobility agreement in place between your university and uOttawa, you don’t have to pay uOttawa tuition fees and your home university must recommend you before you can apply.
