Marina Pavlović and students
On June 13, 2025, Professor Marina Pavlović, a Faculty member of the Centre for Law, Technology and Society, appeared before the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) alongside JD students Mercedes Parsons and Adam Mawji.

Professor Marina Pavlović, Mercedes Parsons and Adam Mawji presented their intervention in Telecom Notice of Consultation 2024-318: Making it easier for consumers to shop for Internet services. Benjamin Surmachynski, also a JD student, contributed to the team’s written submission.

Their intervention responded to the CRTC’s proposal for broadband labels by focusing on how to make them effective. The group emphasized that labels should be standardized in format, persist beyond the point of sale, be accessible to all users, and remain enforceable despite fine print in service contracts.

Professor Pavlović appeared along with her students, offering them an unmatched opportunity to participate in a live regulatory proceeding and engage directly with communications policy issues.

The Centre for Law, Technology and Society is proud to foster academic research engaged in policy-making, especially when it prominently features our students in real-world settings.

The team’s written submission and oral remarks are available on the CRTC website.
