The provision of custodial services for the uOttawa campus community is facilitated through a contract with custodial service providers. This contract specifies the frequency and details of all services provided to maintain the campus at a standardized level of cleanliness.

Critical Custodial Requests

Critical Custodial Requests are any situations that pose a health risk or could cause major damage to university property. Critical custodial services are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year including weekends and statutory holidays. 


Examples include:

  • Toilets overflowing or not flushing
  • Slippery floors
  • Plugged sink drains
  • Ceiling leaks
  • Requests to expedite the cleaning of spills on carpeted areas.

Scheduled Services

Custodial Services are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and are conducted across three shifts: day, evening, and night. On statutory holidays, regular custodial services will be conducted the next business day.

Floor care: Whenever possible, advance notice will be given for any scheduled floor care work to allow departments time to remove personal items (e.g., books, paper, floor lamps) from the floor.
