Patrice Corriveau is the University of Ottawa’s vice-provost, international. He has held many positions as a leader and administrator, including interim vice-president, international; senior director, student affairs; acting director, Centre for Career Development and Experiential Learning; academic special delegate; head of international recruitment in Mexico; and department chair.
With a doctorate in sociology, he has been a professor of criminology since 2006. Prior to that, he was a senior policy analyst with the federal Department of Justice. He is also president of the Association internationale des sociologues de langue française.
Patrice Corriveau’s research, at the crossroads of sociology, law and history, examines the way certain behaviours come to be defined as criminal or marginal, shedding light on debates surrounding processes of criminalization and informing policies and practices in social and criminal justice. His main research project is a sociological history of suicide in Quebec.
