uOttawa Fundraising Campaign Exceeds Goal, Creates Lasting Legacy

The University of Ottawa proudly celebrated the successful conclusion of its ambitious reIMAGINE campaign, surpassing its $500 million goal by an impressive $41 million. The extraordinary generosity of donors and community partners has made a transformative impact in support of students, research, and initiatives with partners in the local, national and international community to improve lives and drive progress on homelessness, climate change, refugees, and other issues.

And with over $50 million raised in its final year, this represents a record annual total for uOttawa. This achievement marks the seventh consecutive year of growth in philanthropic support for the university.

“Philanthropy is how we unlock progress,” said Jacques Frémont, University President and Vice-Chancellor. “It doesn’t just build labs or endow scholarships—it drives discovery, it breaks down barriers, and it fuels bold ideas that solve real problems.”

Campaign Highlights

The support and generosity from the university community during the reIMAGINE campaign delivered substantial impact across three key areas:

  • Student Support: $112 million raised to help students receive a world-class education, funding scholarships, bursaries, and innovative learning initiatives
  • Campus Enhancement: Transformative new spaces created for students and faculty members, including the state-of-the-art STEM Engineering Complex and the Lees Avenue Health Sciences building
  • Research Excellence: The greatest proportion of philanthropic support—$240 million—directed toward groundbreaking research, research chairs, and professorships.

“In today’s reality of limited public funding, campaigns like reIMAGINE are not just helpful—they are essential,” added President Frémont. “This is about ensuring that brilliant minds—regardless of background—have the tools and the opportunity to lead. Our donors didn’t just invest in a university. They invested in people, and a better future for all.”
