The period known as the European Middle Ages endowed the Western world with a rich architectural, musical, poetic, theological, literary and linguistic heritage. Our vision of the world has its origins in the Long Medieval period, so studying this era (beginning in Late Antiquity and reaching into modern times) provides an introduction to the past in all its dimensions: linguistic, cultural, historical, political, philosophical and religious. In addition to introductory courses in medieval civilization, the programs delve into history, classical studies, music, English, English and French literatures, theater and religious studies.

After completing your undergraduate studies in Medieval and Renaissance Studies, you have two main paths to consider: continuing your education or entering the workforce.

You may choose to pursue graduate studies, such as a Master’s degree. The Faculty of Arts offers a collaborative program in Medieval and Renaissance Studies at the master's level to deepen your knowledge and develop advanced research, analytical, and critical thinking skills. The program gathers specialists from several disciplines and gives you the opportunity to examine a diversity of cultures and ancient societies of the fourth to seventeenth centuries.

Alternatively, you can move directly into the job market. Your degree can lead to a variety of careers in fields such as librarian, archivist, historian, historical interpreter.
