Cynthia Bilodeau is a full professor at the Faculty of Education. A clinical psychologist registred in Ontario and Quebec, she has extensive experience in teaching, clinical supervision and academic leadership. Professor Bilodeau’s teaching and research focus on improving counselling and psychotherapy practice. This includes exploring skills development in training of professionals, particularly in clinical supervision settings, as well as psychosocial adaptation to change. Guided by positive psychology principles, she is currently involved in several federally-funded (SSHRC) projects. These initiatives aim to determine supervisory practices that favour wellness and professional skills, as well as studying Canadians’ psychosocial adaptation regarding climate change. In terms of pedagogy, Professor Bilodeau favours a transformative learning approach aimed at developing reflective practice and the safe and effective use of self among future clinicians, to build resiliency in the next generation. Engaging within the community, she works towards equitable access to mental health services, is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of researchers and clinicians, and makes a substantial contribution to advancing standards of practice and psychological wellness in the community.
