Teacher training in technology education (Certificate and B.Ed.)

This online and in-person Technology teacher education program prepares you to teach in a variety of technology fields in the Intermediate/senior divisions (Grades 9 to 12).

It is designed for skilled tradespeople and individuals who have a professional background in technology and who want to take on new challenges. This career advancement opportunity will allow you to pass on your skills and passion to future generations.

During the admission process:

Choose the Certificate in Education (C.Ed.) if you do not have a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 90 units in the desired field of study.
Choose the Bachelor of Education in Technology (B.Ed.) if you have a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 90 units in the desired field of study.
Please note that the number of places is limited for the program, as well as for each field of study.

EduTek Program

Courses are offered online and in-person, depending on the term, and use a variety of technologies. Computer skills are essential to complete this program and access to a computer and to reliable Internet service are required.

Synchronous courses

You must attend classes on the date and time indicated on the schedule included in the instructor's course outline.

Asynchronous courses

You must complete assignments, tasks, and exercises at your own pace and meet the deadlines.

Full-time program offered in French only - 60 units

Some summer term courses are held in-person in Ottawa.
Online courses are offered in the evening.
This program offers an opportunity to apply for an entrance scholarship.
Full-time employees must plan for weeks off during the summer and for time spent in practicums.
Total duration of training is 19 months (5 terms) beginning in January and ending in July the following year.

The Faculty of Education's Technology Teacher Education program leads to a certificate in education and a bachelor of education degree. This program prepares its students for teaching in French-language high schools in Ontario. It takes a specialized approach and has specific academic requirements and admission procedures.

Completing the basic teacher education program is the first step for those wishing to become teachers. The combination of theory and practice is central to the program: students alternate between university and school environments. In keeping with the University's mission of serving the Franco-Ontarian community, the Faculty is open to the expression of diverse values and to the needs of different teaching practices. It seeks to encourage reflection on the culture and vitality of minority languages and communities.

The Faculty of Education's teacher education programs comply with the regulations for the designation by the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) for the general certificate of qualification and registration and for designation as an education professional.

Upon successful completion of 12 credits and 10 days of practicum, the Faculty of Education will make the recommendation to the Ontario College of Teachers and issue a Transitional Certificate of Qualification and Registration that qualifies teacher candidates to teach in Ontario schools in the Intermediate and Senior divisions.
