His research on online learning and connectivism highlights the importance of interaction and collaboration in digital learning environments. Another major area of his work concerns digital literacies and citizens’ ability to develop a critical understanding of technology through the use of artificial intelligence and the development of 21st-century skills. He has also contributed to the study of serious games and educational video games as tools for motivation and learning. Within the Faculty of Education, he has promoted a nuanced perspective on technological innovation, particularly regarding artificial intelligence. His main contribution is demonstrating that the educational value of technology depends on the pedagogical, social, and institutional practices that accompany its use.
