Edstudio

Description

Welcome to edstudiO — where imagination meets transformation in the journey to reshape the future of education. It is a space for innovative educators and education researchers.   Located in Lamoureux Hall, home of the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Education, it is a multidimensional research, teaching, and community space, fully equipped with the latest in educational technology. It is a hub for preparing the next generation of teachers and education researchers to use a diverse range of digital and physical tools in their practice.   The space includes purpose-built zones for making and tinkering, digital gaming, digital media production, and collaboration where visitors can see 3-D printers, laser cutters, sewing machines, robotics, green screens, podcasting technology, virtual reality technology and much more. The fusion of traditional craftsmanship with digital technologies opens opportunities for tinkering, making, inventing, creating, exploring and collaborating that align with understandings of how learning happens. For future teachers, this space disrupts traditional classroom designs. In edstudiO, educators learn to use digital and physical tools and materials that will enable them to design playful, hands-on experiences for their own students.
