Simon Parent is a professor of technology education at the Faculty of Education. A specialist in integrating digital tools in teaching, Professor Parent examines the effects and use of educational technologies within diverse learning communities, both in educational and professional settings. His research, based on authentic collaboration with practitioners in Ontario and Quebec, deals with development of digital skills and critical, sound use of technological tools such as programming, robotics and artificial intelligence for teaching and learning purposes. His expertise has allowed him to make a significant contribution to the design and development of several government and institutional initiatives in Quebec related to digital skills, including the Cadre de référence de la compétence numérique (2019) published by the Quebec government. He has collaborated on Canada-wide projects with the Canadian Digital Learning Research Association, Computers for Success Canada and the Canadian Society for the Study of Higher Education.
