About the uOttawa–IBM Cyber Range

Located in the STEM Complex, this purpose-built facility is dedicated to cybersecurity research, training and applied learning. Operated by the Faculty of Engineering in partnership with IBM, it provides a secure, controlled environment where complex digital systems can be tested, monitored and challenged.

The space is equipped with advanced computing infrastructure and specialized software that supports realistic simulations of cyber incidents — from system disruptions to coordinated network attacks. These capabilities support hands-on experimentation and applied research focused on managing cyber risks in real-world conditions, giving visitors a rare chance to experience response scenarios to one of today's most pressing challenges.

The facility also includes a mock broadcast and communications studio, where teams can experience the pressure of crisis decision-making during a live cyber incident — reflecting how cybersecurity extends beyond technical response into strategy and communications.
