Designed to meet the Certified Mental Performance Consultant® (CMPC) K8 required knowledge area (Diversity & Culture) offered by the Canadian Sport Psychology Association and the Association for Applied Sport Psychology.

This course is mandatory for the Master of Human Kinetics with Concentration Mental Performance Consulting. It is also offered for external candidates. You must request permission to enrol. To complete your request, you will be asked to upload one of the following:

  • an unofficial transcript confirming that you’ve taken and passed a graduate sport psychology course
    OR
  • proof that you’re currently enrolled in a graduate sport psychology program
    OR
  • proof of your student membership in the Canadian Sport Psychology Association or the Association of Applied Sport Psychology

Please also include your uOttawa student number (if you have previously studied or applied to the University of Ottawa)

APA 5320 Course description: Critical examination of theory, approaches, and interventions focusing on cultural competence, diversity, social justice, and advocacy. Discussion of characteristics of diverse individuals and populations impacting human behaviour and helping relationships, with implications for professional practice.
