Why offer a placement to an LPP candidate?

What are my responsibilities as an employer?

As an employer, you will need to:

  • Offer a full-time, 16-week placement to a law graduate enrolled in the LPP (January–April).
  • Interview and select your candidate, if applicable.
  • Sign a placement agreement.
  • Integrate the selected candidate into your organization’s work (e.g., conducting research, drafting documents, assisting clients, etc.).
  • We are here to support both you and the candidate throughout the placement.

During the placement, we conduct follow-ups with you and handle all administrative formalities. You do not need to file documents with the Law Society of Ontario.

How can you differently contribute to the LPP?

The LPP training relies on the contributions and expertise of members of Ontario’s legal profession. The LPP is designed by and for the legal community. Candidates benefit from a vast network of lawyers, who speak highly of the many advantages of participating in the LPP, including giving back to the profession, helping train future colleagues, and sharing their experiences and knowledge.

Consider joining the LPP in one of the following roles:

To guide its vision and initiatives, the LPP has established an Advisory Committee composed of committed and dynamic legal professionals, including judges, lawyers, and professors known for their exemplary professional paths.

Members of the Advisory Committee are recognized for their expertise in their respective fields of law and their excellent reputation within Ontario’s Francophone legal community.
