The University of Ottawa LPP offers an innovative practice program that will allow students to master all the skills necessary to offer quality French legal services and to succeed in their professional careers.

Before they begin a four month placement in a legal workplace, candidates will receive four months of intensive training in a simulated law firm, where they will familiarize themselves with all aspects of the legal practice, including communicating with clients, legal researching and drafting, strategic decision-making, oral argument, computerized firm management, time management, billing, professional responsibility, developing a business plan, and networking.

The practice program consists of eight practice modules:

  • Civil litigation;
  • Administrative law;
  • Commercial law;
  • Criminal law;
  • Family law;
  • Real estate law;
  • Wills and estates law, and;
  • Establishing and managing a firm.
