Dr. Matthew McInnes
Dr. Matthew McInnes has received the uOttawa Library’s 2026 Open Scholarship Award, which recognizes faculty leaders who demonstrate excellence in supporting and practicing open scholarship.
Dr. Yvonne Ying
Dr. Yvonne Ying is the recipient of the 2026 Teasdale-Corti Humanitarian Award, bestowed by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in recognition of her impactful career, during which she has connected academic surgery with humanitarian work, global health education, and advocacy for marginalized patients.
Dr. Bette Meek
Dr. Bette Meek has received the Outstanding Contribution Award from the Regulatory and Safety Evaluation Specialty Section (RASS) of the Society of Toxicology. The award recognizes individuals who have had significant impact in regulatory and safety science.
Dr. Ellen Freeman
Dr. Ellen Freeman was awarded the 2026 Silver Fellow of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) in recognition of her many years of dedication and service to ARVO.
Dr. Robert Myette
Dr. Robert Myette has been named by the Ottawa Business Journal and the Ottawa Board of Trade as one of Ottawa's Forty Under 40 for 2026. Recipients are chosen based on their business accomplishments, professional experience and community involvement.
Dr. Kori LaDonna
Dr. Kori LaDonna won the 2026 Early Career Medical Educators (ECME) Mentor Award from the Canadian Association for Medical Education (CAME), awarded to a faculty member beyond the early career stage who has demonstrated exceptional leadership, generosity of time and initiative as a role model and mentor within the early career medical educators community.
Dr. Hassan Mir
Dr. Hassan Mir is the recipient of the 2026 Royal College Award for Early-Career Leadership in the health policy/health systems category in recognition of his widespread impact in patient smoking cessation via programs, policy and research.
Dr. Deborah Zimmerman
Dr. Deborah Zimmerman has been awarded the Canadian Society of Nephrology's (CSN) 2026 Distinguished Service Award in recognition of her exceptional service in the practice of nephrology and in facilitating the mission of the CSN.
Dr. Christopher Ramnanan
Dr. Christopher Ramnanan has been awarded a 2026 University of Ottawa Excellence in Education Prize in recognition of his outstanding teaching and leadership in anatomy education, as well as his strong research program.
Dr. Mary-Ellen Harper
Dr. Mary-Ellen Harper, full professor in the Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology, was awarded the Canadian Society for Molecular Biosciences’ Canadian Science Publishing Senior Investigator Award which recognizes a record of outstanding achievement across research, mentorship, and scientific leadership in biochemistry or in molecular or cellular biology.
Dr. Kathleen Gartke
Dr. Kathleen Gartke, assistant professor in the Department of Surgery, has been appointed to the Order of Ontario in recognition of her pioneering leadership as one of Canada’s first woman orthopedic surgeons, introducing innovative pain-reduction techniques and advancing women’s health, academic excellence, and patient care.
Dr. David Cook
Dr. David Cook, assistant professor in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, has been awarded the 2025 John Charles Polanyi Prize, one of Ontario’s most esteemed research awards, for his research focusing on how ovarian cancer cells change and adapt during treatment to understand why some current therapies stop working.
Dr. Sydney Morin
Dr. Sydney Morin, assistant clinical professor in the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, has been awarded the Rising Star Award of the Canadian Healthcare Network’s Pharmacy Practice + Business Awards, recognizing a pharmacist in practice for less than five years who has shown extraordinary leadership, innovation and effectiveness in their practice.

Dr. Jason Frank is the recipient of the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada's 2026 AFMC President’s Award for Exemplary National Leadership in Academic Medicine.
Dr. Mary-Ellen Harper
Dr. Mary-Ellen Harper received the 2026 Scientist Award from the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC) for her outstanding contributions to health research.
Dr. Lorenzo Madrazo
Dr. Lorenzo Madrazo, lecturer in the Department of Medicine, was presented the 2026 Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC) John Ruedy Award for Excellence in Graduate Health Professions Education Scholarship.
Dr. Claire Touchie
As part of a collaborative team based out of the University Medical Center in Utrecht, Netherlands, Dr. Claire Touchie has been awarded The International Association for Health Professions Education's 2025 ASPIRE to excellence International Collaboration in Health Professions Education award, a prestigious international recognition that celebrates outstanding collaboration in health professions education across institutions, countries, and cultures.
Dr. Vicki LeBlanc
Dr. Vicki LeBlanc, chair of the Department of Innovation in Medical Education, has been awarded the Canadian Association for Medical Education's Ian Hart Award for Distinguished Contribution to Medical Education which recognizes senior faculty who have made an exceptional contribution to medical education throughout their academic career.
