I studied criminology at the University of Ottawa (BA and MA); my PhD is from Carleton University (sociology). I began my teaching career at the University of Ottawa in 1992 as a sessional instructor. I was hired into a tenure stream position in 2001.

What is the topic of your current research?

I am researching gendered violence, the sex industry, and workplace violence in the education sector.

Are you affiliated with any other academic units –

Yes, the Institute of Feminist and Gender Studies.  

What is the best part about you job?

The best part is working with the amazing staff, faculty, and students in the department.

Why did I accept this position?

To contribute but also to challenge myself.

What people don’t know about me…

that I have (relatively mild) dyslexia. Going to school in the days before computers with spellcheck teachers sometimes assumed I was either lazy or intellectually slow because of my poor spelling.

What is your favorite spot-on campus (to read, to eat, etc.)

My favorite spot is the living wall in FSS.
