Defend social justice by helping reduce inequalities and supporting human dignity within communities. Studying social work gives you a unique opportunity to engage in academic programs grounded in critical approaches. Our programs place intervention practices in context within the fields of child and family services and health, with particular attention to the current realities of Francophones living in minority settings.

Why choose this program

Social sciences building hallway

Social work seeks to promote social change, problem-solving in contexts of vulnerability, and the capacity of societies, communities, groups, and individuals to improve their living conditions and overall well-being. By using critical and reflexive social science theories, social workers intervene with individuals, groups, and communities.

Your journey at the School of Social Work stands out for:

  • Participation in the experiential learning model, which enriches your training by combining theory and practice in your courses. You will take part in hands-on experiences such as interprofessional intervention simulations, community collaborations, and cultural immersions.
  • Bachelor’s and Master’s programs are accredited by the Canadian Association for Social Work Education
  • Two areas of specialization at the master’s and doctoral levels: Family–Childhood and Health
  • A one-year master’s program for those who already hold a bachelor’s degree in social work
