Group of students on the steps of Tabaret hall
You’ve received an offer of admission. Congratulations!

1. Review your offer

Read the PDF offer of admission in your admission file carefully. You’ll find information on your admission conditions, the average you must maintain and the deadline to accept your offer.

Please note that we only assess and grant transfer credits after you accept your offer of admission

2. Pay your admission deposit (if required)

International students and students admitted to some programs must pay a non-refundable admission deposit by the date specified in your admission offer. Please note that deposits may take up to 14 days to process if the financial institution is outside Canada. The deposit amount will go towards your tuition fees for your admission term and it will be credited to your account when you enrol.

Your tuition deposit is non-refundable, except if your study permit application is rejected by IRCC. To qualify for a refund, you must provide proof your study permit application has been rejected. Once we’ve verified this, we’ll refund your deposit. You must request your refund by the last day to enrol for the term to which you’ve been admitted. We don’t grant refunds if you’re still awaiting a decision from IRCC regarding your study permit application.

3. Receive your provincial attestation letter (for international students)

Once we have received your payment, our Admissions office will email you your provincial attestation letter (PAL) within approximately 3 working days. While awaiting your provincial attestation letter, prepare the other documents you’ll need for your study permit application to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

You must have your study permit from the Government of Canada before beginning your studies at the University of Ottawa. We encourage you to start your application as soon as you can. Find out more about the Government of Canada requirements to study in Canada

4. Submit your final transcript

If you’ve received a conditional offer of admission, we must confirm that you meet all the conditions outlined in it before you begin your studies. This process ensures you meet the University’s academic standards and are ready to start your program.

We start verifying admission conditions in May and continue until late August. Make sure to submit the required documents by the deadline in your offer to avoid delays.

Admission condition verification process

Step 1: Submit the required documentation

You can find instructions on submitting your final transcripts in your offer of admission. In most cases, you must upload your final transcripts via uoDoc.

Make sure to upload an official transcript containing your final results. Don’t upload a web link from an external platform or a copy from your student portal. Make sure that all pages are included.

Step 2: Document review and verification

Admission conditions are reviewed by the Admissions Office, as well as your faculty, which means that all your conditions might not be verified at the same time.

Any conditions pertaining to transfer credits are reviewed by your faculty before the last day to enrol and to change your course selection.

Step 3: Confirmation and next steps

You’ll receive a confirmation email once we’ve verified that you meet all admission conditions.

If you fail to meet the conditions, we’ll contact you for an explanation and to discuss alternatives. For example, you might be eligible for an alternate program.

Otherwise, if you fail to meet the conditions, we may revoke your offer of admission and you will lose your non-refundable admission deposit.
