Program prerequisites for undergraduate admission

Explore University of Ottawa undergraduate program prerequisites, admission averages, requirements and application deadlines.

Admission to an undergraduate program

Your eligibility for admission to the University of Ottawa depends on whether you meet the program prerequisites and minimum admission average required for your chosen undergraduate program.

Check the specific courses and admission averages you need based on your academic background and where you are applying from.

Good to know

  • Unless otherwise indicated, you must complete all prerequisite courses in your final year of high school or at the postsecondary level.
  • The admission averages and prerequisites listed are minimum requirements only and are subject to change.
  • Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission, as some programs are more competitive.
  • If you are applying to a program offered in French, please visit the French admission requirements page to view the admission averages and prerequisites.

Deadlines

  • You can start applying on September 18, 2025 for programs that begin in Fall 2026 or Winter 2026.
  • Canadian application deadlines: If you’re a Canadian citizen (living in Canada or abroad) or a permanent resident, these are the dates that apply to you.
  • International application deadlines: If you’re not a Canadian citizen and you study abroad or in Canada with a study permit, these dates apply to you—unless you’re in an Ontario high school, in which case you follow the Canadian deadlines.
