By accepting the Co-op Admission Offer and Agreement, I acknowledge that participation in the Co-op Program is governed by the Co-op Regulations and Procedures. I understand that my admission is conditional upon maintaining the minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) required for my program of study at the end of the current academic term.
Academic Commitments
I acknowledge that I must follow the approved work/study sequence for my co-op program and that this sequence has been approved by my faculty and by the Senate of the University of Ottawa. I understand that the work/study sequence, including the number of work terms, may not be modified without the written approval of the Co-op Office.
I understand that the approved work/study sequence may require enrolment during a summer term, during which course availability may be limited.
I agree to maintain full-time registration in each scheduled study term, in accordance with my program requirements (a minimum of 12 credits at the undergraduate level and 6 credits at the master’s level).
If admitted to the Co-op Program with advanced standing, I agree to continue fulfilling all registration requirements applicable to co-op students.
I understand that I am required to maintain good academic standing, as determined by my faculty or program of study. I acknowledge that failure to meet academic standards may result in academic probation and may affect my eligibility to continue in the Co-op Program, in accordance with University and Co-op regulations.
I understand that, during a work term, I may enrol in one evening or asynchronous course, provided that such enrolment does not interfere with work obligations and does not affect my required fulltime registration status in subsequent study terms. I acknowledge that I am not permitted to enrol in courses with daytime or inperson components during a work term.
I authorize the Co-op Office to register me in the required Professional Development course (COP100) during the academic term preceding my first co-op work term.
I acknowledge that completion of COP100 is a mandatory requirement of the Co-op Program and that I am required to participate in all course components, including mandatory modules delivered through Brightspace and mandatory activities offered in person and virtually.
I understand that successful completion of this course is intended to prepare students for effective participation in the co-op placement process.
I authorize the Co-op Office to register me in the required workterm courses during each work placement.
I agree to submit all required workterm reports by the deadlines published in the Co-op Key Dates and to comply with the workterm report guidelines. For work terms lasting 8 or 12 months, I agree to submit a report at the end of each four month period.
Work Term Placement Commitments
I acknowledge that it is my responsibility to regularly consult the Co-op website and official Co-op communications for deadlines, instructions, and required actions related to the placement process.
I agree to comply with all deadlines established by the Co-op Office, including deadlines related to job applications, interviews, job offers, and placement activities.
I agree to attend all scheduled interviews and remain available throughout the co-op placement process, as directed by the Co-op Office.
I authorize the Co-op Office to submit my résumé, academic transcript, and other required application materials to prospective co-op employers. I further authorize the verification of information provided in my résumé and during interviews. I understand that misrepresentation, omission of facts, or false statements may result in withdrawal from the Co-op Program and cancellation of a placement or consideration for employment.
If an interview or position requires a security clearance, I authorize the Co-op Office to share the necessary information with the employer to allow the clearance process to begin.
Commitment to Job Offers
I understand that acceptance of a job offer through the co-op placement process constitutes a binding commitment to the employer and to the Co-op Office.
Upon accepting a job offer, I agree that I must:
I understand that this commitment applies even if employment-related steps still need to be completed (employment contract, issuance of a security clearance, completion of employer onboarding processes, etc.).
I acknowledge that accepting a job offer and subsequently declining the position, pursuing another employment opportunity, or withdrawing from the work term without the approval of the Co-op Office constitutes a violation of co-op regulations and will result in withdrawal from the Co-op Program and assignment of a failing grade for the workterm course, in accordance with the Co-op Regulations and Procedures.
Professional Conduct During the Work Term
During a co-op work term, I agree to:
I acknowledge that scheduled University break periods (e.g. Reading Week) do not apply during work terms and that I am expected to work full time for the full duration of the work term, as agreed with the employer.
Co-op Fees and Compliance with Regulations
I acknowledge that participation in the Co-op Program requires the payment of mandatory co-op administrative fees, as set by the University and announced annually by the Office of the Registrar, including a co-op fee associated with the Professional Development course (COP100) prior to my first work term and a co-op fee assessed for each co-op work term for which I am matched with an employer, up to and including the final work term, in accordance with the Co-op Regulations and Procedures.
I understand that if I choose to withdraw voluntarily from the Co-op Program, the withdrawal must be made in accordance with the details outlined in the Co-op Regulations and Procedures.
I further acknowledge that participation in the Co-op Program is governed by the document entitled Regulations and Procedures Governing Co-operative Education Programs, and I agree to comply with all co-op rules, requirements, and procedures set out therein.
