Where can I get funding to pay for my trip? Doing a placement abroad is certainly an exciting venture; however, it can be costly because students are not usually paid for international placements. Nonetheless, there are a number of options available to help you pay for your trip.

Mobility Scholarships

  • $1,000 student international mobility scholarship: Deadlines to inform the co-op office that you have found your own co-op work term: December 1st (winter placement), April 15 (summer placement, and August 15 (fall placement).
  • $500 student international mobility bursary offered by the co-op office (for unpaid placements): Deadlines to inform the co-op office that you have found your own co-op work term: December 1 (winter placement), April 15 (summer placement, and August 15 (fall placement).
  • Gaby St-Pierre Mobility Scholarship: $1,500 (international) and $1,000 (national) - Telfer students only
  • uOttawa Alumni Association Mobility Co-op Scholarship (for summer work term only): $1,500 (international) and $1,000 (national). The deadline to apply is April 30.
  • BMR GROUP INC. MOBILITY SCHOLARSHIP: $2,500 for a placement in Canada (outside the National Capital Region and West Quebec) and $3,500 for a placement abroad - Telfer students only
  • Jacques Frémont International Scholarship: Study or do a co-op placement abroad and automatically receive generous financial support of $750 (standard amount) or $1,000 (one-time scholarship for an exchange during Fall 2025 or Winter 2026). This scholarship will be awarded once per academic year to eligible students. (Kindly note that Faculty of Law, Common Law Section, students aren’t eligible for this scholarship).
