Bilingual Volunteer Driver (year round)

Community Partner: Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa

The Children's Aid Society of Ottawa [CAS] is a non-profit organization funded by the Government of Ontario. The CAS is one of over 52 agencies across the province regulated by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services and governed by the Child and Family Services Act.  

Tasks:

  • Coordinate his/her own drive schedule, in collaboration with the Drive Clerks.
  • Attend meetings hosted by the Volunteer Services.
  • Transport children/youth safely, following all rules of the road and Society guidelines.
  • Remain with the child until the designated adult is available.
  • Ensure that children arrive at the place of destination in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain a congenial and healthy atmosphere in the vehicle to assist in minimizing the stress of transportation for the children.
  • Communicate clearly with program staff, parents, foster parents, caregivers and other professionals such as teachers and therapists as required, concerning the pick-up and drop-off of the children.
  • Report any task-related difficulties to the supervisor.
  • Maintain safety, efficiency and cleanliness of the personal vehicle.
  • Follow through with commitments and assigned drives.

Requirements:

  • $2,000,000 public liability insurance.
  • Provide a police record check for the vulnerable sector.
  • Provide three references and authorize a Child Welfare Agency record check.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license - Class G.
  • A driver's abstract showing a clear driving record.
  • Must be 25 y.o. or older

Hours required: 4 hours per month (for a minimum of 1 year)

Varsity Sport – Food Squad: Food & Hydration Volunteer

Community Partner: uOttawa Varsity

Want to help feed and fuel varsity athletes this summer? Become a volunteer member of the Food Squad. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a high-performance environment at the University of Ottawa, supporting athletes behind the scenes in their daily training and recovery.  

Tasks:

  • Preparing hydration stations (water, Gatorade coolers)
  • Supporting food service.
  • Assisting with basic food preparation.
  • Cleaning, organizing, and ensuring athletes always have what they need.

Requirements: What matters most is dynamic verbal communication, a positive attitude, and being comfortable interacting with people. You will not be required to do much writing. We are looking for individuals who are reliable, engaged, and comfortable in an active environment.

Hours required: 10 (with more hours available)

Reading/Math Mentor

Community Partner: Learning Buddies Network

Learning Buddies Network is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping elementary school students develop essential literacy and math skills through free one-on-one, after-school mentoring in a fun group setting. We reach children who otherwise would not have the help they need. Our goals are to enhance self-esteem through improvement in academic skills and to ignite a passion for learning in a safe and caring environment.

Tasks:

  • Complete the math/reading and volunteer manual training sessions
  • Participate in the orientation during the first week of the programs
  • Report to your Program Coordinator and Executive Coordinator
  • Prepare lesson materials provided by the organization for each session  
  • Mentor your little buddy by using the lesson materials prepared  
  • Track your little buddy’s progress
  • Attend mentor meetings
  • Complete mentor reports
  • Assist in volunteer recruitment

Event Marketing and Communications Assistant

Community Partner: Ensemble Non-Profit

Ensemble’s goal as a non profit is to help facilitate the growth of Ottawa’s marginalized youth in the areas of music, technology and financial literacy. As a volunteer you will support the promotion and communication efforts tied to community-based live experiences, including programming for creatives and cultural activations.

Tasks:

  • Assisting with event promotion strategies.
  • Supporting ticket and RSVP campaigns.
  • Conducting outreach to student clubs and community organizations.  
  • Helping identify and communicate with potential nonprofit and community partners.
  • Assisting with guest list growth.
  • Supporting attendee engagement before and during events.
  • Students will gain practical experience in event marketing, communications, community outreach, partnership development, audience engagement, and live event operations.

Requirements:

  • Student in communications, marketing, event management, or a related field
  • Strong interest in music, culture, and community-driven initiatives
  • Good understanding of content creation, marketing, and social media platforms
  • Experience or interest in event planning and community engagement
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Adaptable and comfortable in fast-paced environments
  • Positive, solutions-oriented mindset

Administrative Assistant

The Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) is a national, Indigenous-led charitable organization founded in 2000. Its mission is to educate the public and raise awareness about the history and lasting impacts of the Residential School System on First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Survivors, their communities, and future generations. LHF is dedicated to advancing reconciliation and healing by fostering respectful and equitable relationships among all Canadians. The Foundation also works to highlight the significant contributions of Indigenous Peoples in Canada and around the world, while ensuring that their histories—including those shaped by injustice—are acknowledged and understood.

Tasks:

  • Provide administrative support
  • Assist with data entry and collection
  • Perform general clerical tasks

Requirements:

  • Strong interest in Indigenous history, reconciliation, and social justice.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Attention to detail, particularly for data entry and administrative tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and/or Google Workspace.
