Michaëlle-Jean Community Engagement Awards

The Michaëlle-Jean Community Engagement Award annually recognizes a student, a faculty member, and a partner organization for their exceptional contribution to the Community Engagement Learning (CSL) program.

Details

Created in 2015 and renamed in 2022, the Michaëlle-Jean Community Engagement Award highlights the exceptional contributions of a student, a faculty member, and a community partner who have actively supported the Community Service Learning (CSL) program.

Purpose of the Award:

  • To offer a financial award to a student and community partner who demonstrated outstanding engagement in implementing a CSL placement or project.

  • To recognize a faculty member who has gone above and beyond in integrating CSL into their course.

Award Details:

  • First student prize: $1,000 (credited to the student account) and recognition on the uOttawa website.

  • Second and third student prizes: $500 each and website mention.

  • Faculty member recognition: Mention on the uOttawa website.

  • Community partner award: $1,000 and mention on the uOttawa website.

Eligibility:

  • Students must have completed a CSL placement integrated into a course during the current year.

  • Faculty members must have included CSL in at least one of their courses.

  • Community partners must have hosted a CSL student during the current year.

  • Each nominator may submit only one nomination per term (fall, winter, or summer).

Timeline for the year

  • Nomination deadline: January 18, 2027

  • Selection committee decision: March 1, 2027

  • Announcement of award recipients: April 2027

  • Award disbursement: April 30, 2027
