Professor Angel Foster

Professor Angel M. Foster is an international authority on sexual and reproductive health. Her extensive research program, which spans over 20 countries, supports better access to medication abortion and emergency contraception services. Her research has informed key policies of the World Health Organization and the National Abortion Federation. Her research has led to improved access to safe, high-quality, and affordable abortion services in humanitarian settings. Highly relevant in the current geopolitical climate, her research program protects women's sexual and reproductive rights by addressing the needs identified by those with lived and living experiences, expanding training of health-care professionals, and influencing health-care practices and policies. In 2024, Professor Foster was named University of Ottawa Research Chair in Medication Abortion.

A licensed speech-language pathologist, Professor Myriam Beauchamp is passionate about improving equity for all autistic individuals, including children and adults from minority-language settings, and those with communication barriers, such as language and/or speech disorders. She prioritizes the voices and lived experiences of these individuals in research activities, developing innovative protocols to encourage their full engagement, understand their needs, and influence policies and services. Her work also explores language and cognitive development in bilingual children on the autism spectrum, to inform clinical practice. Professor Beauchamp joined the School of Rehabilitation Sciences in 2025.
