Uncover the benefit of singing
The healing power of opera singing
Beyond its artistic power, singing shows surprising potential for well-being and rehabilitation. In collaboration with the Opéra de Montréal, Professor Anna Zumbansen is developing singing interventions to address two distinct needs: gender-affirming voice therapy for trans women and improved breathing for individuals with chronic respiratory conditions.

Addressing the type 2 diabetes crisis in Black communities in Canada
Black individuals bear the brunt of type 2 diabetes at a 2:1 ratio compared to whites. The BlackFit project, initiated by the Interdisciplinary Centre for Black Health, was launched in October 2024 to prevent type 2 diabetes through a community-based intervention program in the National Capital region (Gatineau and Ottawa). Using an interdisciplinary approach, the interdisciplinary team will generate evidence to support culturally relevant interventions addressing the needs of Black Canadians.
