A look back at 2022-2023

Latest developments in accelerated dual degrees

We now have two new ways to complete a bachelor’s-master’s program leading to an accelerated dual degree in five years. These new programs, which will start in fall 2024, are the Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences and the Master of Health Sciences in audiology or speech-language pathology. We offer twelve bachelor-master’s degree pathways ... for now. Will more follow in their wake?

CO-OP program

The human kinetics and health sciences programs now offer the possibility of taking part in the CO-OP program so that students can apply the concepts they learn in class to paid internships in the workplace. Learn more about the CO-OP program.

Continuous program improvement: an update

We did it! Last January, the Faculty purchased Coursetune, a cloud-based software that helps design study programs (learning objectives and learning outcomes or professional skills) and produces reports for cyclical program reviews or accreditation assessments. We look forward to demonstrating the features of Coursetune for our Faculty to you soon!

New Scholarship Applications Web Portal: Synto!

In 2022, we introduced the much-anticipated Synto scholarship portal, which is a one-stop solution for student applications and selection committee decisions. Along with the Office of Financial Aid and Awards, we continue to become more familiar with Synto and we look forward to more streamlined scholarship administration in the coming years.

Appeals and exceptions

The number of appeals increased from 93 last year to 136 this year. In contrast, fraud allegations decreased from 41 last year to 26 this year. Note that the number of appeals following a pedagogical approach decreased by half. We created a Faculty-specific procedure to address Policy 130 cases, and we updated the processes involved in third-time course registration and in appealing mandatory withdrawals. We continue to work towards improving our efficiency and service excellence by reviewing and revising all outgoing communications with students, schools, and professors.
