Dr. Haykal provides strategic leadership for Francophone Affairs and guides its development to strengthen the role of the Francophonie across the Faculty of Medicine’s missions.

Director, Francophonie promotion

The director, Francophonie promotion, provides strategic, institutional and organizational leadership for initiatives promoting the Francophonie in the Faculty of Medicine. 

He is responsible for determining directions, strategic alignment and governance for portfolios related to thematic projects, innovation and language quality in order to support the influence, credibility and sustainable development of French-language programs. 

Director, continuing medical education (CME) in French

The director of continuing medical education (CME) at Francophone Affairs is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing and developing the Faculty of Medicine’s French-language CME programs to ensure coherent, relevant and high-quality programming that meets the needs of Francophone health-care professionals in Canada.

Director, recruitment, outreach and recognition

The director, recruitment, outreach and recognition, provides leadership on the portfolio and co-ordinates related components for our Francophone community. The incumbent supervises the head of student outreach, Francophone Affairs, and the head of recognition, Francophone Affairs, ensuring alignment of priorities, approval of work plans and accountability. 

In addition, he is responsible for the recruitment and retention of faculty members to teach in French. This includes identifying needs, developing networks and supporting departments and programs to ensure sustainable teaching capacity in French. 

Director, external relations

The director, external relations, is responsible for the strategic development, organization and institutional alignment of external relations for Francophone Affairs at the Faculty of Medicine. 

Working from a whole-of-Faculty perspective (MD, PharmD, graduate studies, departments and hospitals), she helps define and inform external relations initiatives in French at the local, regional, national and international levels. The incumbent also acts as a strategic link between the vision on academics and the Francophonie and the implementation of that vision by the relevant institutional units. 

Director, medical education research in French (by interim)

The director, medical education research in French, provides strategic leadership to ensure the development, promotion and influence of medical education and teaching research in French at the Faculty of Medicine. 

He will organize, support and promote research initiatives on medical education in French; facilitate the funding and dissemination of this research; and ensure that the Francophonie has a significant presence and makes significant contributions as part of reflections and directions on medical education in the Faculty. 

Faculty director, Consortium national de formation en santé (CNFS)

The Faculty director, Consortium national de formation en santé (CNFS), provides Faculty-wide leadership, consistency and alignment for clinical and training activities conducted in the CNFS stream of the medical program, under the leadership of Francophone Affairs at the Faculty of Medicine. 

She works closely with the Undergraduate Medical Education team to ensure that CNFS stream activities are incorporated into the medical education program and that students admitted through the CNFS stream are properly supported throughout their studies. 

Director, teaching and academic development

The director, teaching and academic development, provides leadership on education in French for Francophone Affairs. 

She oversees the quality, consistency and development of training programs in French, including continuing professional development and strategic educational initiatives at Francophone Affairs.
