Seminar Series

The Wellbeing Program is pleased to welcome speaker Andra Smith, professor of psychology at the University of Ottawa. She will present her seminar “The Neuroscience of Mindfulness”.

Date: Thursday, October 15, 2026

Time: 12:00 – 1:00 ET

Location: Zoom - Click here to register

This seminar will provide an understanding of the neuroscience of mindfulness through a lens of attention training and stress management. Specifically, we will discuss how our attention is being hijacked on a daily basis and how this can lead to significant stress. Mindfulness is a way to train our attention and manage our stress response. This talk will combine the neural mechanisms behind stress and mindfulness to provide some real-world tools for enhancing wellness. We will always have stressors in our lives, what we can work on is our relationship with them. Understanding the brain and mindfulness is a powerful way to gain our attention back and manage stress.
