First Nations, Métis and Inuit Funding
First Nations students who are members of a registered First Nations community can speak directly to their band about sponsorship eligibility and the application process. Contact the Education Department at your band office.
Métis students may apply for the Métis Student Bursary Program (MSBP) at the Financial Aid Office at participating colleges and universities, including the University of Ottawa. For more information, visit the Métis Nation of Ontario Bursaries and Scholarships Program website.
Be sure to look into the University of Ottawa’s Métis Nation of Ontario Scholarship.
Inuit students residing in the Northwest Territories or in Nunavut are eligible for funding support from their respective territorial governments. Contact your territorial government for information.
If you are an Inuit student who has been residing outside of these territories for more than 12 months, you may be eligible for funding from the Post-Secondary Student Support Program. Contact your regional Indigenous Affairs and Northern Development Canada (AANDC) office in your province.
