With the legalization of cannabis in Canada, the University of Ottawa a has considered a variety of options for an approach on recreational cannabis use on campus, including the possibility of moving to a smoke-free environment at its main campus as has been done by some other Ontario universities.

The University’s primary goal is to ensure that our approach on smoking and vaping cannabis on campus is reasonable and consistent with public health imperatives and the public interest. The views of our community are also relevant.

The University is therefore launching a community consultation to hear views from students, faculty and staff on whether the University should have a smoke-free main campus. We invite all members of the uOttawa community to express your opinions on this important issue by taking part of the consultation on smoking and vaping on uOttawa’s main campus.
