John V. Marsh Award for Excellence in Teaching
Poupak Mehrani, Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering
Professor Poupak Mehrani’s passion and commitment for student learning have made her an outstanding educator. She encourages students to be more curious, gets them excited to learn and allows them to immerse themselves in the class. Her teaching bridges the gap between student’s current knowledge and the realities they will encounter in their career. A top‑rated professor for two decades, she has received major honours including the Stig Lundquist Award (2025), International Fellow Award (2022) and Carmen Poulin Excellence Award (2014) for her impact on CO‑OP education. She’s also been a leader in strengthening graduate programs in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering. Her work has and will continue to have a lasting impact on students and the engineering profession.

David Knox, School of Engineering Design and Teaching Innovation
Professor David Knox is recognized for his forward-thinking, hands-on approach to engineering education and his emphasis on real-world learning. Known for creating interactive classroom environments, he blends project-based work, collaborative learning and emerging technologies to help students engage deeply with design challenges. His ongoing efforts to evolve curriculum and integrate practical skills have strengthened multidisciplinary design programs and prepared students for rapidly changing professional landscapes. Miodrag Bolic, School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
Professor Miodrag Bolic has advanced research at the intersection of biomedical engineering, signal processing, artificial intelligence, clinical sciences, defence applications and industrial innovation. From contactless monitoring for cardiac care and aging populations to AI‑enabled systems for drone detection and infrastructure inspection, his work bridges engineering with medicine, biology, defence and social impacts sectors. Fernanda Lago, Faculty of Engineering
Fernanda Lago exemplifies excellence in teaching support through her dedication to student learning and success. Recognized for her clarity, organization and approachability, she consistently helps students navigate challenging civil engineering concepts through detailed feedback, interactive explanations and tailored learning resources. Her ability to foster an inclusive and collaborative environment—through initiatives such as review sessions, mock exams, recorded tutorials and peer-supported study groups—has had a meaningful impact on both undergraduate and graduate students.
