Candidates wishing to enter a Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) program as a resident or fellow (clinical or research) must meet specific provincial university requirements and those of the program.
Admissibility is determined in the first instance by the uOttawa PGME office. Candidates are assessed on criteria such as citizenship, medical degree and MCC examination.
Candidates interested in applying to a clinical program (residency, fellowship or Area of Focused Competence) should also review the detailed requirements for licensure available on the CPSO website, as well as the insurance coverage provided by the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA).
There are four categories of admissible candidates.
