Message from the Vice-Dean

Welcome to the Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) Program at the University of Ottawa, where we work diligently to enhance the development and experience of our learners while optimizing quality patient care. Our training programs are designed to provide innovative clinical experiences through a variety of educational strategies, developing our trainees into well-rounded clinicians who become leaders in the medical field and in the community.

We offer many fellowship opportunities and accept up to 150 foreign trainees annually who bring a wide range of skills and cultural diversity that serve to enrich our programs and Faculty. New residency and fellowship training programs are continuously being implemented in partnership with our affiliated hospitals as we work collaboratively to enhance patient care. Additionally, Areas of Focused Competence (AFC) programs for fellowships approved by the Royal College are available among our many programs.

The University of Ottawa provides effective and receptive residency programs, approachable and available program directors, excellent support from faculty members and fellow residents, and access to research, teaching and learning opportunities.

As a trainee or faculty member, you will find many wonderful opportunities to both learn and educate in the medical environment.
