Parking is not included with your reservation. All guests must pay for parking before checking in.

Rideau Residence

Public parking is available nearby (not managed by the University). For more information, check for public parking in Ottawa.

Henderson Residence

Please note that our Henderson Residence does not have parking. The nearest University of Ottawa parking lot is located at 33 Mann Street. From Monday to Friday, spaces are limited, as permit holders have priority. For more information, visit our parking team's webpage.

90U Residence

Unregistered vehicles can be ticketed. The University is not responsible for fines.

When and how to pay

• Use the 90U lobby kiosk to pay and to register your vehicle.
  • Note: Park your car in one of the five-minute parking spots and come into our lobby to pay. Do so before check-in. We are not responsible for any parking tickets.
  • Don’t use HotSpot (the outdoor pay station) for this location.
  • Maximum stay: 7 days.
  • Places are limited next to 90U, Lot K. If the parking lot is full, you can use the parking at Brooks with the same parking voucher.

Rates

• Weekdays: $17.50/day
• Weekends: $9/day
• In-and-out privileges are included.

Weekly or monthly passes

• Weekly pass: $100
• Monthly pass: $200
• Available in person at the Parking Office (141 Louis Pasteur)
  • Open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Until then, we recommend parking at Lot K, Brooks or Perez and paying daily.

What to know about parking tickets on uOttawa property

Parking on campus is monitored by Protection Services. Patrol officers are deputized by the City of Ottawa and can issue city parking tickets for violations on University property. Violations are classified as “Unauthorized parking — Private property.”

If you believe a ticket has been issued to you in error, you can request a ticket review through the Parking and Sustainable Transportation service. Make sure to submit your request by the deadline on your ticket.

Are you travelling to Ottawa by plane or train? There are several ways to get to your residence: OC Transpo bus, light rail, taxi, Uber, Lyft or car.

90U: 90, University Street

Rideau: 290, Rideau Street

Henderson: 202, Henderson Ave

Our reception is open 24/7, so you’re welcome to arrive at any time that suits you after 4 p.m.

To check-in, report to your residence’s welcome office to get your key. 

Bring a valid piece of government ID that confirms you are at least 18 years’ old. 

Everyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Note : Please remember to return your keycard at the reception or place it in our key return box. A fee may be charged to your account if the card is not returned.

No worries! We offer flexible check-in services. Between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., buzz the main door of Rideau or Henderson Residence to notify the staff that you’ve arrived.

• Check-out: before 10:30 a.m.

Early check-in is subject to room availability at the time of your arrival. A fee between $50 and $80 may apply. If your room is not ready, we’re happy to offer complimentary luggage storage so you can explore or relax until check-in time. Please feel free to check with our front desk upon arrival, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

90U Residence and Henderson residence

The building's air conditioning system controls the temperature. It is set to air conditioning for the summer.

To adjust the air conditioning temperature:

1. Set the temperature between 10°C and 30°C.

2. Choose the fan speed: LO (low), MED (medium), or H (high).

To heat your room:

1. Set the system button to OFF.

2. Set the fan button to LO (low).

Your room will naturally warm up after a few minutes.

Note: If you are sensitive to the cold, we recommend bringing warm clothes as the number of extra blankets is limited.

Rideau Residence

Your room temperature is controlled by a thermostat inside your room.

If you have trouble regulating the temperature in your room, please contact Reception. 

If you need additional towels, please contact Reception. Towels will be delivered to your door, free of charge, in 45 minutes or less.

For speedier service, bring your used towels to Reception and we will exchange them for new ones. 

• 90U Residence and Henderson Residence: No.
• Rideau Residence Yes, breakfast is between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. in the lobby. 

The following amenities are included in your stay:

• Complimentary Wi-Fi
• Individual room with washroom
• Bedding and towels
• Hand soap, shampoo and conditionner (unless otherwise specified, as in the case of a long-term stay)
• On-site 24/7 assistance

Cleaning service every three days (for stays less than 14 days), otherwise every seven days (long-term stay) 

To get hot or cold water, let the tap run briefly. If the building has been quiet for a while, the water may appear cloudy or discolored at first. This is normal, and after a short time, it will clear up and reach the desired temperature.

Each residence has a laundry room. At Reception, you can purchase a one-day laundry card for $10 plus tax, and laundry soap for $2 plus tax. 

Yes, contact Reception to borrow the following items for a maximum of three hours: hair dryer and iron (quantities are limited).

90U: In the common kitchen you will find a toaster oven and a kettle. We also have a coffee vending machine in the lobby.

Please note that our accommodations are simple and modest, offering the essentials for a comfortable stay. The amenities are kept to a minimum in keeping with this approach.

No, there are no safes in the rooms. 

You’ll find several bike racks available across campus, feel free to use them! Make sure to lock your bike securely, as the University is not responsible for theft or damage. If you’re looking for a more secure option, ask the reception about available bike storage solutions.

Ottawa’s weather can vary significantly, even during warmer months. While daytime temperatures may be mild or warm, evenings and nights can often be cool.

All of our rooms are equipped with air conditioning for your comfort. However, we recommend packing slightly warmer sleepwear or layers to ensure a cozy night’s rest.

90U Residence

Yes, each room is equipped with a kitchenette that features a microwave oven and a refrigerator. However, we do not provide kitchenware (i.e., dishsoap, plates, glasses, cutlery). We recommend that you bring what you need.

Reception also has kitchen kits available for sale for $30 plus tax.

Rideau Residence 

No, rooms in Rideau Residence do not have a kitchenette and summer residents do not have access to the common kitchens.

However, note that breakfast is included in your stay at Rideau Residence.

Nearby you will find a grocery store featuring prepared meals, along with many restaurants. 

Henderson Residence

A communal kitchen is available. However, cooking equipment (dish soap, plates, glasses, utensils, etc.) is not provided. We recommend that you bring what you need.

You will find many options a few minutes’ walk from the residences. Feel free to ask the Reception staff for recommendations!

• On campus: Some campus food services remain open over the summer. Visit our website for an up-to-date list of food services on campus.
• Nearby: Downtown Ottawa and the ByWard Market are full of restaurants and grocery stores where you can find a wide range of meals and products. 

Food delivery (Uber Eats, DoorDash, etc.) 

For safety reasons, food deliveries are not permitted on the floors. Customers are asked to wait in the building lobby to pick up their orders.

Amazon delivery (etc.)

• To avoid delays with Amazon, we suggest adding delivery instructions to ensure your package is picked up. Please follow the instructions below.
• After entering your building address in the "Add an Address" section, select "Delivery Instructions (Optional)" at the bottom of the page.
• Under "Property Type," select the "Business" tab.
• Under "When is this address open for deliveries?", you will find the Monday-Friday tab; select 7:30 a.m. for "Open" and 3:30 p.m. for "Closed."
• Under the Saturday-Sunday tab, select "Closed for Deliveries."
• Under “Can this address receive deliveries on federal holidays?”, select “No”.
• Select “Continue” to complete the delivery instructions process.
• Amazon Lockers: You can send your Amazon packages to the “BIANCA” locker located at 85 University Street, accessible outside of regular postal service hours. The University of Ottawa is considering adding more lockers to improve service for students. Please note that if you choose the locker at 85 University Street, you will not receive email notifications from the postal services team.

Yes! Residents can access the campus sports facilities, including the Fitness Centre and the pool.

To obtain a pass and pay the fees, go to the center located in the Montpetit Pavilion.

Access is reserved for people aged 16 and over. Proof of residence may be required to benefit from the preferential rate.

Yes, you can use the (paid) services of the doUcentre located in the basement of the Jock-Turcot building (UCU), room 0024. They are open from Monday to Friday, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

• In Ottawa: OC Transpo light rail (LRT) and buses effectively cover the city’s main neighbourhoods, including downtown, as well as tourist attractions and shopping malls.
• To Gatineau: The Société de transport de l’Outaouais (STO) links Ottawa and Gatineau, with several routes between the downtown and neighbouring areas.
• To Gatineau Park: There are buses that run to some entrances of Gatineau Park, which is ideal for hiking and other outdoor activities.
• Biking and walking: There are several biking and walking trails that are easy to take from campus.
• Car and carpooling: There are also taxi, Uber and Lyft services. 

In accordance with University regulations, all our rooms are non-smoking rooms.  

No pets are permitted in our establishments.

If you notice something in your room that is broken or needs maintenance, contact the front desk as soon as you arrive so that you are not held responsible. 

• You have until 4 p.m. (Ottawa time) two days before your arrival date to cancel for free.
• No reimbursements will be issued after this deadline.
• Early departures will not be refunded.
