Job Description:
Our Certified Personal Trainers are responsible for creating and delivering safe and effective exercise programs for healthy or medically cleared individuals or groups. The personal trainer establishes realistic goals, and then designs, tailors and implements a fitness program that will motivate clients through each session. As a professional in the fitness field, the personal trainer will coach their clients by demonstrating and teaching safe and proper techniques, will conduct fitness assessment and track performance goals as well as supervise the client’s workout sessions. The personal trainer may conduct training in group settings.
SKILLS/ REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in the areas of personal training &/or exercise physiology
- Valid level 1 Personal Training certification by an accredited association (CanFitPro, SPI, NCSA, CSEP, etc…)
- Valid CPR certification
- Valid First aid certification

Job Summary:
Provides quality client services by welcoming, informing and registering Sports Services’ clients to various sports activities;
Analyses and determines the needs of the clients; suggests and sells a membership that will suit the customer’s needs;
Receives various requests and inquiries by telephone, by fax and by email addressed to Sports Services; transfers these requests to the appropriate person;
Controls equipment rentals: lends keys to appropriate individuals whose names are on the lists; verifies the borrower’s identity and takes necessary steps to retrieve the items that have not been returned in due time;
Regularly patrols and controls access to the facilities;
Promotes the Gee-Gee’s brand by advertising its programming and its events;
Provides First Aid in case of emergency;
The position requires working day, night and/or weekend shifts at both the Minto Sports Complex and Montpetit Hall Facilities.
Functions: Client services (95%)
1. The Client Services and Sports Facilities Attendant welcomes university and external members in the Sports Services’ facilities and informs them of the activities as well as the services offered by Sports Services: how to apply for the memberships, the different types of membership available, the rules and regulations concerning admission to the Sports Services’ facilities;
2. He or she verifies the identity and eligibility of the members trying to get access to the Sports Services’ facilities, using a scanner and the CLASS software; corrects any code mistakes (access cards) as well as mistakes on clients’ file, prints and gives an access cards to external community members buying a membership;
3. The Client Services and Sports Facilities Attendant answers phone calls, confirms reservations for the squash courts at the Health and Lifestyle Centre; he or she is attentive to customer feedback and forwards their complaints to the appropriate person;
4. He or she registers customers to Sports Services activities, sells memberships and daily access passes according to the customer’s needs; respect the applicable pricing; verifies the applicant’s identity, writes down client’s personal information on file, completes the required forms; explains the importance of having the customer’s signature at the back of the form and gets him or her to sign the waiver; collects all sale payments with the help of the computer software and with the established procedures;
5. He or she receives and prepares refund requests (according to the policy in effect) for the supervisor’s approval;
6. When closing cash at the end of the day: the Client Services and Sports Facilities Attendant removes sales receipts from cash register, adds up the Visa, MasterCard and Debit receipts, counts cash in register and removes extra money (for deposit), putts everything in an envelope and documents (on the envelope) all the details concerning receipt totals as well as deposit total, deposits in safe;
7. The Client Services and Sports Facilities Attendant receives and distributes mail addressed to Sports Services’ employees, at the client services’ desks according to the set requirements. Lists mailings for billing. Collect lost items, identifies them and records them in the file. Sends it to Protection.
8. He or she controls equipment rentals: lends keys to appropriate individuals whose names are on the lists; verifies the borrower’s identity and takes necessary steps to retrieve the items that have not been returned in due time.
Functions: Other (5%)
1. The Client Services and Sports Facilities Attendant may need to occasionally provide first aid in emergencies: follows the risk management procedures during events requiring immediate action (breakage, fire, accident). Keeps his or her First Aid/CPR/AED certifications, up to date.
2. He or she receives, identifies, keep track of, controls and stores equipment and merchandise.
3. The Client Services and Sports Facilities Attendant informs his supervisor of any relevant suggestions to improve the functioning of the Sport Services department. He or she is actively participating in his or her personal development. He or she temporarily performs related duties as required.

Responsibilities

- Plan, prepare, outline activity schedules for delivery – align with programming goals. Includes any camp-wide leadership initiatives that engage all camp programs.
- Teach specific skills and competencies in job readiness and child-care management. Collaborative Lesson planning and development alongside the camps program assistant and camp coordinator.
- Day-to-Day delivery and participation of all camp programs and activities.
- Actively provide a fun and interactive camp environment for all while actively ensuring the care and upmost safety and security for children and youth ages 6 – 17 in all camp areas.
- Mentor and support youth in their camp volunteering, while providing ongoing guidance.

Overview
As the Gee-Gees Camps Senior Counselor - Integration, you will be responsible for providing guidance and support to camp counselors and campers with regards to child behavior, children’s exceptionalities, or special needs. As needed, the senior counselor will facilitate interventions or respond to group needs by fully immersing into a camp program.
The incumbent is responsible for upholding all camp values by demonstrating empathy and care when responding to issues, or when actively integrating a child into their camp setting. Moreover, the senior counselor provides clear behavior management tools and guidance to counselors in collaboration with the camps program assistants and the camp coordinator.

Follow Gee-Gees Recreation scheduled events and current social media trends closely.
Responsibilities
- Helps develop a social media content calendar for Gee-Gees Recreation by providing content ideas that align with the overall social media strategy.
- Creates social media content (educational, event promotion, event takeover, etc.).
- Films Gee-Gees Recreation leagues, programs, activities and events.
- Publishes posts according to the established social media content calendar.
- Collaborates with the student social media team so all content is relevant, while maximizing engagement, reach and sales.

Job Description:
Intramural League Supervisors are the Intramural Program’s representatives during games. They promote communication between Intramural Programs’ administration staff and participants. Supervisors are responsible for managing the leagues and ensuring they run smoothly throughout the season. These responsibilities include preparing game sheets, taking outand putting away all necessary equipment, completing incident/accident reports when necessary, and being available to answer questions from participants. Supervisors must know the rules and regulations of their sport(s) and facilities and apply them whenever disputes may arise. They will also post all scores and standings and notify affected parties when there are changes to the schedule. Supervisors must administer first-aid, when necessary, and complete appropriate accidentforms. They will promote a safe and fun environment for all participants. Supervisors will attend all required training sessions and assist during registration week. The League Supervisors report to the Intramural Programs’Coordinator and Assistant Coordinators.

- Contact team captains for all schedule changes/updates and league announcements.
- Remain in contact with the Head Referee and the Intramural Programs’ administration staff throughout the season.
- Pick up keys for the equipment.
- Retrieve first-aid kits, and equipment cages.
- Assist Facilities with equipment set up.
- Sign-in & check uOttawa IDs of all participants.
- Inspect facilities for safe game play.
During Games:
- Attend all scheduled games and ensure they run smoothly.
- Liaise with facility staff when problems occur and assist in settling disputes.
- Fill out incident and/or accident reports when necessary.
- Make yourself available to answer any questions from participants in your league(s).
- Distribute prizes when necessary.
- Administer first aid when required.
After Games:
- Ensure captains sign the game sheet after every game.
- Submit all game sheets as well as any incident or accident reports to the administration staff.
- Assist in putting away all equipment & ensure all equipment is returned.
- Enter team scores and standings at the end of every shift.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or other challenges encountered on shift.
- Return all keys.
Other:
- Get to know as many participants as possible.
- Hand out league evaluations near the end of the season.
- Present a positive and approachable attitude.
- Show enthusiasm for your league(s).

Job Description:
All referees are required to apply and enforce the rules established for their sport to the best of their abilities. Head referees are responsible for managing and mentoring all referees within their sport and ensuring a high level of consistent officiating is maintained. They are responsible for communicating with and scheduling referees. They must also settle any disputes that arise and sit in on their sport’s disciplinary committee. Additionally, they are tasked with ensuring that all policies and league procedures are followed as per Intramural Program policy. Head Referees will report to the Intramural Programs’ Coordinator and Assistant Coordinators while working in conjunction with League Supervisors.
Experience / skills required:
- Excellent organizational, communication, and people skills.
- Leadership and ability to work as part of a dynamic team.
- Good language competency (oral, written and comprehension) in both English and French.
- Significant experience working as referee (>4 years) and dealing with conflict.
- Experience in supervisory and/or customer service roles.
- Recognized Referee Certification (preferred).
- Previous experience in an Intramural Program (participant and/or official).
- CPR and/or First Aid an asset.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Before the Season:
- Organize training sessions at the beginning of each term to review rules and general guidelines for the leagues;
- Train referees for the sport in question;
- Ensure all referees are given referee shirts and whistles;
- Plan and attend the team captains’ and referees’ meetings;
- Create referee schedules in advanced;
- Attend all mandatory meetings and information sessions;
- Review league rules & make any specific modifications after coordinator approval
During the Season:
- Remain updated on all current rules and procedures for the sport and the leagues;
- Ensure league rules and procedures are followed fairly by all participants and employees;
- Conduct referee mid-season and end of season evaluation.
- Find replacements, or replace referees that are unable to attend games;
- Lead by example when refereeing games;
- Verify all score sheets for the respective sport;
- Continually communicate with Assistant Coordinators throughout season;
- Perform periodic evaluations of all referees and provide constructive feedback;
- Submit referees’ hours to the Assistant Coordinator by deadline to ensure payment;
- Be in contact with League Supervisors to ensure the league runs smoothly;
- In the event of a major incident, the Head Referee must collect all relevant documents and data and meet with the disciplinary committee;
- Attend and staff all tournaments and special events related to their sport;
- Professionally deal with any questions, comments, or concerns from players and/or referees.

Referees will implement established Intramural sport-specific rules to the best of their abilities. Referees report directly to their sport’s Head Referee and work in conjunction with the League Supervisors as well as the Program Coordinator(s) where necessary.
Experience / Skills Required:
- Excellent knowledge of rules, usually acquired through experience officiating or participation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage conflicts.
- Leadership qualities and ability to work as part of a dynamic team.
- Good language competency (oral, written) in both English and French.
- Recognized Referee Certification as an asset.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Before the Season:
- Where necessary, maintain proper certification by an appropriate governing body.
- Know and understand all rules specific to the sport and the league.
- Provide availability to the Head Referee in a timely manner.
- Attending meetings scheduled by the Head Referee.
- Attend all mandatory meetings and training sessions.
During the Season:
- Officiate all games assigned by the Head Referee.
- Find a replacement for any assigned shifts for which you cannot be present.
- Notify the Head Referee of all shift changes.
- Ensure games start and end on time.
- Referee fair and consistent games to the best of your ability.
- Maintain a positive attitude around participants and peers.
- Immediately report incidents/accidents to the League Supervisor.
- Complete appropriate incident/accident reports, when necessary, prior to leaving the facility.
- Provide truthful and detailed reports if asked by the Head Referee or Disciplinary Committee.
- Stay and officiate a friendly match in the event of a forfeit, if the minimum number of participants is present.
- Maintain communication throughout the season with Head Referee and League Supervisors.
- Remain professional at all times.
- Assist with equipment set up and/or take down.
- Inspect facilities to ensure safe game play
- Assist with participant sign-in and mandatory student ID checks.
