With strong school board partnerships and a commitment to equity, diversity, and reconciliation, we give you the skills and network to make a real impact.
The Teacher Education program at the Ottawa Campus prepares students to teach in English-language schools in Ontario (see the corresponding program for more information).
The Formation à l’enseignement program at the Ottawa, Toronto, and Windsor campuses prepare students to teach in French-language schools in Ontario at the following teaching divisions: Primary/Junior, Junior/Intermediate, and Intermediate/Senior.
The program is offered full-time over three consecutive terms. It begins in the spring-summer term with a series of foundational and pedagogical courses that prepare students for professional practice (for example: Franco-Ontarian Society and School System, Special Education and Inclusion, Assessment of Learning, and Indigenous Education: Foundations, Realities, and Pedagogical Practices). The fall and winter terms focus on practical training in school settings, with a practicum in the fall and a practicum in the winter, accompanied by three to four courses per term to consolidate the links between theory and practice. Courses may take place during the day and in the evening, in person.
The Teacher Education program at the Ottawa Campus prepares students to teach in English-language schools in Ontario. (For more information, please visit the relevant program page). The French as a Second Language option is available at all three teaching divisions.
The P/J division prepares you to teach Kindergarten to Grade 6 in Ontario's French-language schools.
It provides you with skills in teaching and learning methods for all subjects, including French, mathematics, social studies, science, arts, health and physical education.
No prerequisite courses required.

The J/I division prepares you to teach grades 4 to 10 in Ontario's French-language schools.
You must choose an academic options from among the teachable subjects.

The I/S division prepares you to teach in both middle school (grades 7 and 8) and high school (grades 9 to 12). in Ontario's French-language schools.
You must choose two academic options from among the teachable subjects.

Read the admission requirements and submit an admission application — uploading unofficial transcripts is accepted during the file evaluation.
Receive an email to access your uOzone student portal (username and password), register for and pass the French language proficiency test.
Register for and pass the Casper 2 test.
Meet the minimum requirement of 70% in the subject being taught and the minimum number of courses for the Junior/Intermediate and Intermediate/Senior teaching divisions (refer to the academic options table).
To increase your chances of admission, we recommend that your file be completed before the date indicated in the admission requirements.
Formation à l’enseignement graduates can teach in French at the elementary or secondary level, work in specialized education, or pursue roles in curriculum development, educational technology, and leadership.
